The Little Vampire
"Mosquitoes" comes from Spanish meaning “little fly”. They are annoying, and in some areas ~ like Angola ~ they are best avoided due to malaria.
Males live for about a week, feeding on nectar and other sources of sugar. So this is a female, they will also feed on sugar sources for energy but usually require a blood meal for the development of eggs. This one is norwegian, has no malaria and got our blood…
This is a “one hand shot” – the mosquito is on the photographers left arm, leaving the right to hold the camera – so yes, a bit hard to focus
