Macro : Macro photography is close-up photography. Often of small objects, like insects or a really close look at something bigger! For us, to shoot macro is a bit like being an explorer - you don't know what you really are looking at before you have captured it ~ that thiny spider got eight eyes?!
For macro we normally use our Nikon 105mm f/2.8D AF Micro Nikkor combined with Nikon R1 Wireless Close-up Speedlight System

Birds :

HDR : HDR or High Dynamic Range. Sometimes we miss the dynamic range from the old film days. However, HDR offers some interesting possibilities, and we have quite a lot of fun playing around with it. A little goes a long way but sometimes it's fun to go the whole hog too.... I you want to know more; Vanilla Days offer a good HDR Tutorial!

Topaz : Topaz Adjust is a Photoshop plug-in which lets you play with your images, achieve advanced colors, detail techniques and a look like HDR effect from just a single image.
Just like HDR photos a little goes a long way but it is also fun to sometimes go the whole hog!

Infra Red : We have converted a Nikon D200 to Infra Red photography. It is a new way to see the world. Places and objects seen in the NIR (Near Infra Red) is both very familiar and very strange. Sometimes even hard to recognize.
Our senses tells us how to understand the world, but they sample only small slices of the reality around us. Our senses are limited - in a way they tell us the reality and fool us at the same time...
Think about our ability to hear - what if we could hear beyond 20-20,000 Hz, as dogs do? Think about our ability to see, what if we could see beyond the narrow visible light band at 400-700 nm?
With our InfraRed camera we extend our senses. It is a new world, and it is hard to anticipate how a scenery will look like when rendered in IR. Typically green leaves turns out very white, almost like covered in snow, and the sky becomes very dark, as do still water.

Texas Road Trip : At the advice of a British friend gone native Texan, who insisted we needed to see more of Texas than the bright lights and glitz of the Houston metropolis, we went forth. He recommended a trip into the depths of rural Texas visiting places like Rosebud, Temple, Milano, Hanover, Elevation and so on, with his good advice we loaded the car and set off. Odds and Ends : The first official odds and ends were found in lumberyards ~ odds were pieces of board split irregularly by the sawmill, ends were pieces trimmed from boards that were cut to specific lengths. This is a collection of bits and pieces.
